16 Jul Samis & Bianco matches announced!
OLYMPIA, Washington, July 16, 2015 – At a press conference held Tuesday, July 14 at Camp Solomon Schechter, the camp’s Executive Director Sam Perlin and campaign chairs, Amee Huppin Sherer and Corey Salka announced the opening of two matching opportunities for their community-wide Capital Campaign, From 60 to 120: The Campaign to Build Jewish Continuity. All donations made to the campaign will be matched 1 to 1 by a challenge matching grant from the Samis Foundation (up to $1.5 million). Additionally, the first $250,000 will be additionally matched dollar for dollar by Carl & Joann Bianco. The press conference saw attendance from several of the campaign’s current major donors, camp’s board and staff, and local community leaders, including Mayor Pete Kmet of Tumwater and Jason Hearn Lacey City Councilman.
“This relatively small enterprise that we are all undertaking together to ensure the continuity of this camp for another generation is really an expression of how we Jews take responsibility for ourselves,” remarked Rabbi Rob Toren of the Samis Foundation. “It’s a great honor and privilege to be part of that effort.”
